About the International Negotiators' Working Group

The International Negotiators' Working Group (INWG) was formed in 2000 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The aim of the INWG is to improve negotiation methods and harmonize procedures across borders to develop an international network of police negotiators.

The INWG comprises members from numerous policing agencies from around the world. Members meet annually to exchange knowledge, experiences and latest developments and tactics concerning hostage and kidnap-related negotiations and current negotiation topics of interest.

The INWG conference provides the opportunity for negotiators to learn, network and build friendships. The alliances formed through the INWG have proven to be valuable in times when collaborations across boarders have been required.
